SELF-BUILD INFORMATION

Barton Road
Owner: John and Michelle Lynch
Project designer: Julian Johnson from Bidwells
Clay roof tile manufacturer: Daniel Platt Limited

This is an individually designed large property near to the centre of Cambridge with some unusual design features such as the chopper guttering and large stain glass window to the front.

The building work was managed by John and Michelle Lynch who built the house for themselves. John runs a civil engineering company in London.

The roof was fixed to British Standard 5534 by Lodge Roofing. The colour was chosen to blend in with the surrounding properties. The handmade tiles gave the roof considerable more texture and life over natural slate which is more commonly used in the immediate vicinity.

Please note that Daniel Platt Ltd ceased trading in July 2005
