The Clay Roof Tile Council (CRTC) spearheads a national
marketing campaign to inform, educate and inspire the
construction industry about the use of clay.
The CRTC’s
remit to keep the industry up to date includes the
production of educational material on the
application of clay roof tiles. The new Plain Tiling
Guide and its predecessor, the Vertical Tiling Guide
are both contained on this CD. They provide in-depth
technical information on the design and fixing of clay
roof tiles and are a valued resource for professionals
and students in the construction sector.
To access the
contents pages of either of the guides, simply click
on the relevant links below or move your
cursor over the photographs to select the area you
would like more detail on. In the event that you cannot find the detailed information required about the construction of a particular feature, or for any other technical enquiries associated with the use of clay roof tiles, please contact the manufacturer of the tiles in question (see CRTC members).
The popularity of clay roof
tiles continues to grow exponentially. The Council
members have enjoyed eight
years of solid
sales growth giving the clay roofing industry just
over eight per cent of the UK pitched roof market.
In 2002, the CRTC posted its highest volume of sales
when its members sold a record 115 million tiles – an
increase of 71 per cent on 1994 sales figures.
Clay
is highly regarded by specifiers and is emerging
as one of the most sought after roofing materials.
In
fact, a CRTC survey found that 99% of specifiers agreed
that clay roof tiles enhance the built environment
and 95% believe clay is a sustainable building product.
Clay
is valued as a natural, traditional and sustainable
roofing product, and can be used to create a variety
of imaginative and beautiful designs on pitched roofs
and vertical surfaces of both contemporary and traditional
buildings.
