Judging Criteria & Process
All award entries will be judged against the following criteria:

Design features
The overall visual impact of the roofscape and any special features.

Tile specification
The appropriateness of the selection of clay tiles and associated products to the overall design of the building.

Fitting and fixing
The standard of workmanship in laying and, where relevant, cutting of tiles, with particular attention to the ridge, eaves, gables, hips, and valleys.

Aesthetic appeal of the roof
The extent to which the roof complements the building design/style and enhances the overall visual appeal of the structure.

Technical challenges overcome
The extent to which the designer/architect/roofer has successfully addressed any difficulties presented by the need or desire to include complex or unusual features.

Sensitivity to the surrounding environment
The extent to which the roof complements or enhances the style of surrounding buildings/environment and thereby improves the quality of the built environment.

Judging process
There will be two stages in the judging process: Judging will take place after the awards closing date on 5th March 2008. Photography will be a key component of the judging process, and entrants should therefore ensure that they include good quality images with their submissions.

Short-listed projects will be visited by the judges in April and May 2008. Short-listed entrants will be advised and appropriate additional information may be requested prior to project visits.

The Awards will be presented at a special luncheon at Lord's Cricket Ground in London on 17th September 2008.
